09/12/2025 - Nintendo Direct Thoughts + Life

Okay, woah. It's been an... Eventful week news-wise. Kinda crazy what's going on in the world right now, but do I wanna address that? No, I don't. LOL!

All in all things have been pretty slow for me, which I can appreciate. It feels like my life has been so hectic up until now, and it's nice to finally have a relaxing weekend! In good news, my boyfriend and I bought the Close Call Otasune Zine like, the minute it dropped, and I'm so fucking excited to get it in the mail! It looks so cute and awesome, I recognize so many artists and it's so exciting!

I've been into zines for awhile actually. Some may not know this, but I'm an art school drop out (i majored in animation with a minor in illustration if anyone cares lol) so I have a bit of hands-on experience with the making of and purchasing of zines. I hold them very near and dear to me. I actually made art for a tarot card themed zine for my riso printing club in college which was AWESOME and an overall amazing experience! I hope one day to be either involved in making zines again, or go back to printing, or both, because the process is so fun and rewarding. I love just... making and having physical things! It's truly a treasure!

Also, in other news, new Nintendo Direct today... For reference, I love Mario, like, looooove Mario. As in, I made closet cosplays of him before I even knew what cosplays were as a kid, watched the Super Mario Bros. Super Show religiously, and my first video game ever was Super Mario on my dad's childhood SNES, so suffice to say, I was hype for this 40th anniversary direct! Just... to be let down majorly. Like... Wow... We're... Remastering Mario Galaxy! Again! For triple the price! Yay! /sarc With barely any physical items! Like, I was hoping for some cool physical Mario merch other than amiibos, which I don't really like to begin with personally, but, whatever I guess? At least the art book seems vaguely interesting, and I'm excited for the Super Mario Galaxy movie! (too bad Chris Pratt's voicing Mario again... Lou Albano you will always be Mario in my heart, RIP)

I actually brought this up with my boyfriend earlier, but I kinda wanna talk about it here, too. I HAAATE how there's no original content coming out anymore besides indie projects! It's all just remakes, remasters, sequels, prequels, ports, etc., not even just in video games, but in movies too! And it's SO exhausting! It feels like we're living in an era of slop content and it SUCKS!!

Anywho, I mostly just intended this to be an easy, quick, first blog post to get a feel for writing things. Hopefully future ones won't be so aimless! For future posts I'm planning on showing off some of my collections, my modded 3DS, and shit about my interests!
